我在大学的专业是国际法，英语水平要求较高。1984年毕业分配到中国专利局法律事务部工作，《法学译丛》（中国社会科学院法学研究所主办的双月刊）1985年第6期刊发了我的译文《专利作为技术转让工具的作用和功能》（郑成思校对）。
1986年，在京参加业内国际研讨会，结识了对外经济贸易部技术进出口局的同志，会后向其推送了该文，收到后来信赞赏我的“佳作”并“称赞”我，虽非英语专业出身但英语水准并不逊于其作为英语专业生，这篇译文对其工作颇有益处，还希望就此继续得到我的帮助。

1994年，中国科学院专利管理处举办研讨班，受邀为讲课的美国专利律师做翻译，研讨班结束回国后，我为其翻译的美国专利律师温伯格给我来信表示感谢，并且予以高度评价——特别是鉴于我尚未到英语国家进修过——故我的英语水平给其留下了深刻的印象。
那是我第一次做交传翻译，从美国对计算机的保护和专利再审查制开始，延及关贸总协定及温伯格的专利代理专业机械。这就是我的英语及其跨界破圈。日后，作为师姐的局国际合作司副司长对我更是“交口称赞”，不是英语专业，能做英语翻译。

I can see from it that your English is quite good although your major is not English. So, at this point, I should learn from you. Hope you could give me some help in the future.
Now, I think it is time for me to do the self-introduction to you. Igraduated from Peking Second Foreign Languages Institute. My major is Economic Co-operation and English. I was assigned to the Department of Technology Import and Export, MOFERT. Several months ago. There is a lot I am not familiar with, especially on the subject of patent.
